Viaggio in Roma

After gaining reputation and partners, RomaWireless has tried to give the project of the Villas a continuation, thinking this time of something that could join connectivity and geo-referenced proximity services, inborn to the nature of the hot-spot itself.

This engagement has given way to Viaggio in Roma, launched with a press conference on March 14th 2006, in the evocative frame of the Adrian Temple and at the presence of the Mayor Walter Veltroni, of the President of the Chamber of Commerce Andrea Mondello and of the Regional Council Member Raffaele Ranucci.

The project consists in the extension of the Wi-Fi coverage, already begun by the Consortium with the Historical Villas, to the whole Ansa Barocca – the historical centre of the City and, more in general, to the areas of archaeological and artistic interest.

Once deployed, the net will allow to the creation of portals to provide information, enhanced and geo-referenced for the tourists about the place he is visiting, allowing him to discover the events, historical facts, etc, continuously updated, also thanks to the experiences of the tourist himself, who will be able to interact with a virtual community of tourists.

Innovative will also be the use of 3D reconstructions of the places for the implementation of other interactive services useful for the tourist, but also for the citizen, willing to re-discover the city where he lives.

During the press conference, the President of the Consortium, prof. Gianni Celata, has spoken about the objectives, phases, modes and times of completion and of the economic effects on the city, also showing the interactive demo of the possible services to the journalists and the ICT experts at the event.
